Wood adhesives - hot melts

In woodindustries there are several applications with hot melts. Partly these are Polyuerthane hot melts as well. The choice to use wether or not a Polyurethane hot melt mostly depends of the requirements of the product to be made.

Edgebanding On several machines such as Holzma, Homag , IMA , Biesse and Butfering is melamine applied to a piece of furniture or wooden plates, mostly this is done at the producer of these wooden plates.. There are however also hot melt precoated materials available in the market. The different material such as PVC and melamine on several machines and several production speeds and other circumstances can sometimes require the need for an unique adhesive. Smearing, especially squeezing out of hot melts are hot" item in this line. The most versatile product in this line is the HM 997W. Of course there are several other types available, both filled and unfilled, for very difficult material and e.g. other temperature properties.

If efficiency, speed and reliability are importantPolyUrethane Hotmelts are mostly used (PUR Hot melt). Polyurethane hot melts have as advantage above the more often used waterbased PVAC adhesive that it's rapidly produced without long pressure times. PUR hotmelts have the advantage above thermoplastic hot melts that it can cover with extreem high (and low) temperatures.

Flooring industries

For the flooring industries thermoplastic hot melts as well as Polyurethane hot melts can be used. If the requirements are realistic, thermoplastic hot melts can do the job perfectly within flooring applications. Thermoplastic hot melts are cost saving against PolyUrethane hot melts. PolyUrethane hot melts can be used when there are special requirements to the bond, but most of the time the bonding is not the first thing to fail in wooden floors.

Product assembly

Many elements, components and end products are assembled in a certain manner. Often one also wonders oneself how one can turn the one substrate with an other one into one endproduct. Hotmelts and PUR hotmelts are used in all kinds of production processes:
